Sallu did not cancel his trip to US

Producer of Wanted, Boney Kapoor has hit out are rumors that Salman had cancelled his New York trip after SRK got detained at US airport this month.
Boney Kapoor says, “This is completely false. Not going to New York was a decision taken by the producers and Salman didn’t even know about it. He is unnecessarily being dragged into all this. We refused to go to the US because the proposal offered to us for the event there was not acceptable to us. That’s it.”
“News reports said that Salman was to be in New York Sep 3. That is also completely untrue.”
Salman is awaiting the release of his flick Wanted, which will hit the theatres on September 18th.

Some would say you have been unfair to SRK on the airport controversy. Doesn’t racial profiling bother you? Have you never felt that people behaved in a certain manner with you because you are a Muslim?
I don’t think Shah Rukh has ever gone through that. He has been politically correct, there are no court cases against him they still detained him, and he felt humiliated. They were doing their job.
Let me put this directly: what is your problem with theman who lives on the other side of Bandstand? You used to be friends once.
It’s just that our thinking doesn’t tally. But the world’s made of all sorts of people. I did not like what he said once. He respects my family, I respect his. We just don’t see eye to eye. Weird things happened one night. It could have been sorted out then and there.
Next morning I came home. But I found that it was blown out of proportion, obviously not from my side.

Smoking Hot Bips, refuses to smoke

While Bipasha Basu is a thorough professional, she will never compromise on her health. She is known to be extremely health conscious and never smokes or drinks. She has, therefore, declined to even hold a cigarette, let alone smoke it, in her upcoming film, Pankh.

Director Sudipto Chattopadhyay wanted Bipasha to smoke on screen for an important part. But she is strictly against smoking and refused to do it. When she was given the choice of holding the cigarette, she rejected even that option. She felt that if she holds a cigarette or smokes it, she will be endorsing smoking. Finally, Sudipto came up with a creative solution. He placed a canister jar in front of her which emitted smoke and it was shot in a way that it looked as if the smoke was coming out of her mouth.

Bipasha has always been against smoking. She had refused to smoke even in Corporate. She wasn’t even in favor of boyfriend John Abraham doing No Smoking. Sudipto didn’t have any problem with Bipasha’s behavior. He felt that the actor should be comfortable with what they are doing.

SRK bangaya Jolly LLB

While Sanjay Dutt became Munna bhai MBBS and rocked the nation, SRK is following the same footsteps, but he is not becoming a doctor,he is going to be a lawyer in Subhash Kapoor’s Jolly LLB.
SRK witll be working with produces Rakesh Upadhyay in the movie, a source says, “Rakesh and SRK have been discussing various subjects for the past few months. SRK particularly liked this theme. If all goes well, the film will be on the floors by next year.”
Director Subhash Kapoor says, “The film will take on the pros and cons of the judicial system. When we first had an appointment with SRK, he had given us about 45 minutes for the narration. However, we ended up discussing the film for over two hours. He took to the film in the first 20 minutes itself. He loved the film immensely. The film’s producer Rakesh Upadhyay is finalising the other details.”

Rakhi Sawant will be back on the big screen once again with Dil Bole Hadippa, where she plays Shanno Amritsari.

I shot for four months with them. Along with three songs I’ve 5-6 scenes. I play Shanno Amritsari, the nautankiwali. So I’ve been given the maximum number of songs. I don’t know how much of it will remain.”

Puri wants Kaminey to be banned

Puri Shankaracharya Nishchalanand Saraswati want a ban of Shahid Kapoor’s Kaminey for showing Lord Jagannath in bad light.

Talking about the scene Puri says, “The scene painted Lord Jagannath in poor light. People across the country should come forward to lodge their protests against such attempts to denigrate a Hindu god.”

Irfan Khan’s unscripted lip-lock with Dia Mirza!

But recently, this dedication took an interesting course. During the shoot of Acid Factory, Irrfan kissed Dia Mirza on the lips even though the scene only required him to kiss her on her cheek. Shocked, Dia phoned producer Sanjay Gupta and informed him about the incident.
According to sources, the shoot was on in South Africa. The scene going on was when Dia introduces Irrfan to Fardeen Khan and Irrfan comes forward to kiss Dia on the cheek and make it clear to Fardeen to not enter into his territory. He has to do this because he suspects something is going on between Fardeen and Dia. However, everyone was surprised when Irrfan suddenly kissed Dia on the lips. It was unexpected, not being a part of the script, but she chose not to make an issue about it at that time and simply called up Sanjay later on.
Meanwhile, Dia doesn’t seem to be very upset. She admits she was surprised, but she thinks that he did it to establish the chemistry between them in the scene. She also thinks it wasn’t much of a kiss. Sanjay also feels that Irrfan did it to make the scene look more real. After watching the rushes, he feels Irrfan succeeded. And since Dia isn’t making an issue over it, he’s fine with it too.

Jagannath Priests Scream out Kaminey!

Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey has angered quite a number of priests at the Jagannath temple. They burned posters of the film after they found it containing a derogatory reference to the Orissa deity. A case was filed with the local police against the film alleging sacrilege.
The part that offended them was that in the film there was the well-known Hindi phrase, Apna haath Jagannath written on a toilet door alongside a scantily clad woman. They found that it vandalizes the pure image of their God. Kalinga Sena, a cultural outfit in Puri, had lodged the police complaint. According to Puri inspector, Sudhakar Sahoo, the case was registered for hurting Hindu religious sentiments.

Kajol’s Book-ish Buys for daughter Nysa!

Kajol is a doting mother. After wrapping up the US shooting of Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan, she was seen book shopping at a famous Juhu store. And while she’s known to be an avid reader, this time she was shopping for daughter Nysa.

Priyanka Chopra potrayed the role of a 15 year old village girl for the zodiac sign Capricorn for Ashutosh Gowarikar’s What’s your Rashee.
Priyanka says, “I have worked so hard in this film. Mera khoon pasina behgaya hai iss movie mein. Playing 12 different characters was the most challenging thing for me; it’s the first time something like this has ever been done. I just hope people like my work in the film.”
Jhankhana, Capricorn was the toughest character yet, to play a 15 year old girl on top of that a village simpleton was mind racking. We didn’t have any prosthetics and it was only my hair, clothes and body language that helped me mould myself into Jhankhana. Thankfully Ashutosh Sir was very helpful and gave me some useful pointers, so I think it worked out just fine.”
Priyanka plays a young 15-year old student who is suddenly caught unaware in life when her parents decide to get her married.

Copycat Rock-Star: Ajay Devgan copies U2’s Bono!

Ajay Devgan as a rock star, strumming away the heated strings on stage is a hard act to swallow.
Not for Vipul Shah, who has cast Devgan as a rock-star musician in London Dreams. The gritty sweaty ambience, the riveting guitar licks, the angst-filled vocals and the screaming hysterical fans…Devgan goes through the rock motions in the film with élan.
Says Vipul, “So far we’ve only seen him in a sedate or comic image, never as someone who can cross the frontiers and do something outrageous.”
Vipul hasn’t quite converted Devgan in to an outrageously punk rock star.
“No, not quite the reckless renegade. I’ve modeled Ajay’s rock act on Bono, the Irish lead singer from U2. Bono was never your quintessential rock star. He had a more sober and a less wild image. When Ajay gets on stage in London Dreams he replicates the curbed tempered-down rock-star’s image of U2. Yes, I modeled him on Bono.”
Interestingly Salman Khan who started calling himself a ‘rock star’ even before the term was coined has no particular image in London Dreams.
“He plays a more improvisational musician whereas Devgan plays a more professional rock musician,” informs Vipul.
Vipul has already shot all the on-stage performances except one. “I wanted to see how the other stage performances look before shooting the last one. I was afraid they’d all look the same. But they’ve all come out differently. And Ajay looks like a rock star in the truest sense of the word.”

Vidya Balan vanishes in Cambridge!

Vidya Balan proved to be more adventurous than her sedate image and serene personality suggest.
Recently while shooting for Balki’s Amitabh-Abhishek starrer Paa in Cambridge, Vidya simply disappeared into thin air! The crew returned to Mumbai without her. Laughs Vidya, “It’s nothing so dramatic. Yes, I did stay back in Cambridge. I simply had to. I had no choice.”
Shooting for Balki’s Paa in Oxford and Cambridge proved to be too lovely an experience for the actress to leave behind. After the whole unit left, she decided to stay for an extra week.
Recounting the experience Vidya says, “I just couldn’t help it. Just being in Cambridge shooting was not enough. I felt a deep connect with the campus and the environment. I just wanted to walk around the campus with books in hand so I’d look like a student.”
Once the shooting was over, Vidya decided to stay over. “Luckily I’ve a friend in Cambridge. I stayed with her, and her husband. It was the most enriching experience of my life. Just the air and the feel of the place are so special.”
Vidya now intends to buy herself a quiet escape route. “I can’t afford a place in Cambridge. But I know of a place near Mumbai that offers the same climate and topography. But I am not revealing it.”

Hrithik’s New Look for Bhansali’s Guzaarish

Bollywood News : Bollywood Actor Hrithik Roshan appeared recently at an event in a completely different avatar. The actor has grown long hair and beard for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish. He plays a paraplegic in the movie and acquires to have this particular look.
A source reveals, “Hrithik underwent training and met various paraplegic patients to get into the skin of his character. The actor is on the wheelchair for a major portion of the movie. He used to practice around in his house on the wheel chair and also had read and gone through booklets and guides which gave him information about the physical behavior of such patients.”
Hrithik Roshan has grown his hair really long and also has his beard grown. While making public appearances he normally gels up his facial fuzz but has the long hair look.
According to an industry source, both Hrithik and Sanjay wanted to have a natural look and one will see Hrithik with this look till the shooting is on for the movie and infact during its promotional events.

Stefania Fernandez: Miss Universe 2009

Miss Venezuela 18-year-old lady Stefania Fernandez is the new Miss Universe 2009. She has been crowned as Miss Universe on Sunday at the picturesque Paradise Island on Atlantis in the Bahamas.
Stefania Fernandez was selected among young women from 83 countries. She beats 4 big finalists, who are from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Kosovo, and Australia. In the 59-year history of the pageant it was Venezuela’s sixth Miss Universe crown.
Miss Dominican Republic, Ada Aimee De la Cruz, is named as the 1st Runner-Up, 2nd Runner-Up is Miss Kosovo Gona Dragusha. And the 3rd Runner-Up is Miss Australia Rachael Finch. Miss China Wang Jingyao is chosen as Miss Photogenic, while Miss Thailand Chutima Durongdej is named Miss Congeniality.
Prizes for Miss Universe:
She will receive a 100,000-dollar scholarship to study acting at an academy in New York,
A five-day vacation package in the Bahamas for two,
A set of jewelry,
and a complete wardrobe.
And well there is obviously a good amount of monetary prize the amount of which has been kept confidential.

Why Ekta Chaudhary was out of Miss Universe 2009?

India's drought at the Miss Universe pageant continued as Miss India Ekta Chaudhary failed to reach the top 15 for the 2009 edition of the event, but the designers here feel she was a "deserving candidate" and lost because of sheer "bad luck".
"Bad Luck!" designer Vijay Arora said after he got to know the result.
The Miss Universe 2009 contest took place in the Bahamas early Monday (India time) and Stefanía Fernández from Venezuela was crowned the beauty queen.
This is the first time in many years that an Indian contestant has failed to make it to the top 15.
"I am very surprised by the fact that Ekta didn't even come in the top 15. Indian beauties have always managed to come in either top five or top ten. But this is a complete surprise," designer Ritu Kumar told IANS.
Kumar has been looking after the wardrobe of the Indian contestants in international beauty pageants like Miss Universe and Miss World since 1994.
The last Indian to wear the Miss Universe crown was Lara Dutta who won the title in 2000.
"There must be some discrimination. One can't digest the fact that no one from India has won the crowd for past so many years. Ekta was a very deserving candidate and I believe there is something wrong going on," Rahul Jain of designer duo Rahul-Gunjan said.
Ritu Kumar said: "A lot has changed in the format. What I feel is that a lot depends on the sponsors there who might be dictating their terms. All we can do and have been doing is try and give our best. After all we have to take our chances."
Many people were sceptical about Chaudhary's short hair as Indian beauties are always associated with long tresses.
Leena Singh of Ashima-Leena designer duo feels that it might it one of the reasons for her early elimination.
"She looks very pretty and has Indian looks but I feel her short hair was the main drawback. It didn't gel very well with her Indian looks and costumes," Leena said.
But she maintained that to represent India at the pageant is an achievement in itself.
With India failing to win for so many years, designer Alpana of label Azara feels that it is the time to introspect because the quality of models representing India at the international pageants is deteriorating.
"These things happen and it is very unfortunate. But I feel that this is the time to introspect and think what went wrong. For so many years we haven't produced a winner which means there is something wrong with the selection criteria. This is the time to start doing something about it," Alpana maintained.

Akshay teaches rollerblade to his son

Stunt hero Akshay Kumar is leaving no stone unturned to make his son Aarav a genius in martial arts, cycling. Aarav is only six and he has already started to give him lesson on rollerblade.
Presently, Akki is shooting in London for Sajid Nadiadwala’s 'Housefull' and in spite of the busy schedule, he makes sure that he finds out some time for Aarav to teach him rollerblade. Says a source from the unit, "Though Akshay has been shooting very hard from morning to night on the London schedule he still is finding time for Aarav and teaching him how to rollerblade. Every day, he makes it a point to keep aside an hour everyday to play Aarav's roller blade trainer."
And what thrilled papa Akshay the most is to see Aarav’s balance and control. For safety measure, he has brought all the safety equipments like the best quality helmets, wrist guards, elbow pads and kneepads to protect his kness, elbows, wrist if in case Aarav falls down.

Drama queen Rakhi Sawant has been engaged to an NRI Gujarati munda Elesh Parujanwala but she indirectly hinted that Elesh is not her type and she is not going to spend her entire life with a man who is much educated to her and financially dependent. The 'Like A Virgin' singer who recently celebrated her 51st birthday, made her 22-year-old boyfriend cry when she refused to wear jewellery he gifted her, reported Mirror online.
Luz gave the singer a set of South American good-luck bracelets, made of thin ribbons which are said to grant the wearer three wishes when they break.
The singer, who is currently on the 'Sticky and Sweet' world tour, told Luz that she could not wear them because they would clash with her Kabbalah bracelets.
"Madonna said that although she loved the bracelets she wouldn't wear them because they clashed with her Kabbalah bracelets. Jesus was crestfallen and he had words with her, leading to tears," said a source close to the singer.
Later the same night, the singer praised her young lover in a speech at a party before running across the room to passionately kiss him.
As friends looked on, Madonna gushed, "He's the love of my life. He has been so strong around me. I can't thank him enough."

Knowing Priyanka Chopra takes a lot of time

When all the film makers these days are coming up with short and specific films Ashutosh Gowarikar on the other hand seems very content about his long and elaborate films. What’s Your Rashee? His latest flick is once again a three hour-long tale, wherein the film will have 13 songs. In the current scenario where even the multiplexes favor films with two-hours of running time, Ashutosh doesn’t seem to be bothered at all. According to him the length of the film has nothing to do with its success and if that is the reason then films like Lagaan and Jodha Akbar wouldn’t have done well at all.
The film is based on a well-known novel Kimball Ravenswood, by Madhu Rye. The story is about a groom and his rendezvous with 12 prospective brides. According to Ashutosh it was not an easy job to picturise all the characters and tracks from the original novel. With the permission of the author the entire novel was modified to make a film out of it. Well with three and a half hours of reel, it looks like Harman has to struggle really hard to find out all about the 12 avatars of his ex-flame Piggy Chops.

Our filmy box-office took a big leap with the much anticipated Kaminey and astounding Life Partner raking in moolah. Will the films slated for release this Friday make it up to that mark, and will they be able to woo the audience and make bucks at the box-office? Let’s check it out:
Fast Forward: This musical-action drama film based on the art of dance, certainly the film banks on 6 words- ‘From the makers of A Wednesday’; despite the not very luring star cast. A youthful approach towards the film with the presence of Vinod Khanna and Mahesh Manjrekar may pull the audience. But much will depend on the word-of-mouth publicity for Fast Forward to survive, considering Kaminey is seeing a belated weekend in major centers like Mumbai and Pune. Shadow: A man, who is blind in real-life, will see in reel-life- this premise has certainly created curiosity among the cine-goers. Naseer Khan- the debutant actor-producer is himself the USP of the film, as iterated in the beginning of the promos itself. Shadow seems to be getting good opening in the beginning and has potential to survive. The film will certainly fare better on single screens as compared to Multiplexes. But yes, word of caution, the film might lose its audience with negative word-of-mouth if it does not cater to the inquisitiveness it has created. It will also be deciding factor for Naseer Khan, whether he is a- long racehorse or one time wonder.
Sikandar: Although based on the most sensitive issue prevailing in the present times, of that of TERRORISM in Kashmir, this film lacks the appropriate promotions to propel it to box-office success. Ayesha Kapoor, the child actor from BLACK is making a comeback as a 14-year-old, in this film she looks much convincing as a school going Kashmiri Girl. This film has a very dim chance to sail across, all thanks to the lack of promotions. R. Madhavan and Sanjay Suri are the saving grace, which may fetch some targeted fans towards the cinema halls.

Schwarzenegger invites Shah Rukh Khan to dinner

Bollywood News : The actor turned politician has offered to meet Shah Rukh Khan on September 20 in Washington in a bid to diffuse what has become a slight diplomatic row.
Khan, 43, who is considered to be one of the icons of Indian cinema, was held up for almost two hours after falling foul of US border officials in a New York airport at the weekend.
Officials from the US Embassy in Delhi were asked by the Indian government to explain why the film-star was held for so long.
The actor, who has featured on Time Magazine’s ‘50 Most Influential People’ list, was said to have found his experience at Newark Airport ‘embarrassing’.
However, it is not clear whether the actor will accept the invitation.
Shah Rukh Khan has recently signed a £125 million deal with Fox-Searchlight in the US to distribute his latest movie.
Ironically named ‘My Name is Khan’, the film charts racial tensions in the US following the 9/11 terror attacks.
Arriving back home to his Mumbai home, the star explained how the experience four days earlier had affected him.
“I am scared of authorities and rules, so I try to follow the rules of the country I travel to,” he said.
“Whenever I am in America, I have to report at least two hours in advance while travelling within the country for security reasons – they ask me to take off my clothes and shoes, and I do that. “But I never experienced this kind of treatment.”
Shah Rukh Khan denied that the detention drama was a publicity stunt for his forthcoming movie: “I don’t think that I need publicity.”
“If you want to give a tit-for-tat policy to American actors, then call me to frisk Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox whenever they are visiting India,” he added.

Salman in mourn, his Jaan passes away

Salman Khan’s beloved pet MyJaan passes away yesterday just six months after his another dog MySon died. Both the dogs were like family to Salman and he was broken down after the death of his two beloved dogs. When his first dog MySon passed, Salman was shooting for ‘Veer’ and the news of his death devastated Sallu then. Since after the death of MySon, MyJaan was not keeping in good health and was admitted to the animal hospital in Parel.
Says a source, "MyJaan had been ill for some time. Also, she had been missing MySon, another dog of Salman, ever since he passed away earlier this year. On Tuesday evening, Salman attended the music release of Boney Kapoor's Wanted and then rushed to shoot for Vipul Shah's London Dreams".
When Salman was informed about MyJaan’s death, he rushed to home, went to his Panvel farm and buried MyJaan and came back the same day. Last evening, when he was shooting for Dus Ka Dum, he was not in high spirit, seemed very depressed and couldn’t concentrate.

Bipasha skips Salman’s show for John

Shahrukh Khan returns home

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan is back to Mumbai after a horrible experience at the US airport. Speaking to the reporters after landing, he said that his tour was not fruitful and he had to face much hassle at the airport. He claimed that he was detained and questioned for two long hours. He said that he was angry and felt humiliated. During interrogation, he felt like never coming to the country again but he has so many fan following in the US that he can’t annoy them.

Salman gets slaps from his mom

Aishwarya Rai is suffering from chest infection and other flu-like symptoms, and pa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan is quite worried about it,considering how Swine Flu is taking it’s toll.

A source says, “Saif and Kareena always try to spend time together on each other’s birthday. But this time they had professional commitments in Houston due to Independence Day. They also had to attend a meet and greet event in Chicago. They reached Chicago late evening on August 15 to attend an event with Shah Rukh and Katrina.”
Saif and Kareena flew to an undisclosed location near Chicago to spend their vacation, “Kareena planned the four-day holiday as she wanted to surprise Saif. They don’t want to reveal the location and will be back in Mumbai only by the end of this week,” adds the source.

Sohail suddenly called out, “Oye Vivek!” Vivek quickly turned to see who had called him. Sohail cheekily looked at a waiter, calling him Vivek and beckoning to him.

Aishwarya Rai suffering from swine flu?

Bollywood News : Actress Aishwarya Rai is down with a ‘chest infection’ and ‘flu-like symptoms’ and her father-in-law, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, is worried.
‘Aishwarya has taken ill and is down with chest infection and flu like symptoms. She had a high fever yesterday, but is settling down today,’ he posted on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com Saturday from Singapore.
‘It’s worrying to be so far away from children and not be there to look after them. Yes, they are mature and married and responsible, but children will always remain children,’ he added. Aishwarya is married to Bachchan’s son Abhishek.
The 66-year-old veteran is in Singapore to look after his friend and Samajwadi Party chief Amar Singh, who underwent medical treatment there.
‘I stay back till he (Amar Singh) is sound enough to travel back,’ he wrote.
Apparently Bachchan also is suffering from a ’strained back’.

“Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Imran Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Minisha Lamba, Celina Jaitley, Vidya Balan, Juhi Chawla along with her husband, Maheep and Sanjay Kapoor, Vishal Malhotra, Madhur Bhandarkar, Rumi Jaffery, Sammir Dattani, Arjan Bajwa etc were present,” said an eyewitness.
The witness added, “Ranbir looked dashing in a formal suit, while SRK was in jeans and shirt with a waistcoat. Imran Khan looked simple in semi-formal wear. Salman Khan was his usual charming self.”

David Dhawan is No. 1

Director David Dhawan has denied that the ‘K’ in the spelling of ‘not’ in his forthcoming film, Do Knot Disturb, has any numerological reasons. According to him, the ‘K’ is used to describe the knotty situations that the characters of the film find themselves in. Their lives get complicated due to several reasons, which go back to normal in the end but that’s what the ‘K’ has been used for, and not because of fascination with the letter ‘K’.
The film is a comedy about a rich businessman who has a secret extramarital affair with a supermodel. He pays a waiter to pretend to be the model’s boyfriend and that’s when the film gets hilarious. It stars Govinda, Sushmita Sen, Sohail Khan and Riteish Deshmukh.
Dhawan claims numerology doesn’t attract him except for the ‘No. 1’ alliance. Adding ‘No.1’ into his film names like Biwi No.1, Coolie No. 1, etc. has always been rather lucky. Let’s see how well Do Knot Disturb fares without the ‘No. 1’ support…

Vidya Balan was first choice for All The Best

Not many are aware that Vidya Balan was the first choice for Ajay Devgan’s home production, All The Best. She was first approached by Ajay and Rohit Shetty, the director of All The Best, but eventually this very same role went to Bipasha Basu.
A source claims, “Ajay and Rohit wanted bulk dates from Vidya for their 45 days long shooting schedule in Goa which was to include the entire cast of the film. But since Vidya had already committed her dates to Balki’s Paa and few other important projects she expressed her inability to allocate so many days at a stretch that too for an outdoor shoot.”
Well then Vidya’s loss turned out to be Bipasha’s double gain as during the Goa shoot, Bips ended up getting friendly with Ajay Devgan.
