Pamela Sitt, Jul 01, 2009Finally, The Bachelorette is getting interesting. We were afraid Jillian might be too grounded to cause any drama, but fortunately the guys are stepping up in that department.
After Jake's "surprise" return to Monday's show to tell Jillian that frontrunner Wes has a girlfriend, the Dallas native spoke to reporters and continued to throw his pal under the bus. Yippee! Some highlights:
On what Wes told him about his girlfriend back home:
"They had an agreement. They were going to keep their relationship on the back burner so he could go on [the show] and sell CDs. I said to him, 'What are you going to do when it comes to the final two and you go behind locked doors? Is that OK with Laurel?' Because obviously she's OK with him kissing on the show, but .."
On why Wes would confide in him if he had a hidden agenda:
"People just felt comfortable talking to me. Wes was talking to me about bowing out and getting out of the show. He'd already gotten what he wanted, to sell CDs. ... The conversations I had with him were, 'Jake, I have a girlfriend, I don't know what to do.' He said, 'Jillian is not the girl for me.' Wes had feelings for someone at home. Wes was not even available to be on the show."
On his reaction to Wes' confession:
"I was disappointed. I was there for the right reasons. I think Wes was there to sell CDs."
On producers giving Wes a "bad edit":
"The way people are coming across on this show, is how they really are. Those things were said. Wes said those things."
On whether it was his idea to go back to Jillian or the producers:
"No, no, it was my idea. Because I saw that she was going down this road. I stood up at the rose ceremony and I said if I find out who this is, I'm going to out you."
On whether he regrets that decision:
"Absolutely not. I think the world of her, and Wes had her snowed."
On his pick for Jillian:
"If I had to vote, I'm hoping Kiptyn ... he's a solid guy. He's honest. I have a lot of respect for Kiptyn."
